About Us

Annette Lohan has lived and worked in Galway since finishing college 1995. Annette began her career as a metal smith but on the birth of her son in 1999, she decided that acid, fire and babies did not mix very well. At this time, she took a career break to focus on raising her son.

In 2004, as Donnacha prepared for his first day of school, Annette opened a new door in her career. South East Software were moving all their software packages to .net framework so Annette was brought in to help design the user interface. Being a small company, she fulfilled many rolls while working there which made the days a lot more interesting.  Her favourite part of the job was IT support. There is nothing more satisfying than to have a customer move from panicked to smiling over a ten minute conversation.

Annette also wrote user manuals for the software packages which ultimately usurped her position. It was a combination of recession and lack of customer support calls that brought an end to her time with South East Software.

At this point Annette decided to study her way through the recession and give a craft career another go. She did very well at college; qualifying with distinction. She is an excellent pattern drafter and an accomplished designer. Unfortunately there is not much call for these skills in Galway and all credit to staving artists, Annette is hungry to get back into the workforce!

 Why Shopify? Why guru?

But most of all because it would make my dog very happy if I worked from home and she could curl up by my feet all day.

Can you resist those eyes?
